Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST)

Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on healing approach that focuses on the subtle movements of the cranial bones, spinal column, and sacrum. By releasing restrictions in the craniosacral system, CST enhances the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, bringing deep relaxation, balance, and natural healing to the body.

How CST Works

With light touch, the therapist gently releases restrictions in the craniosacral system. This process improves the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, reduces stress, and allows the body to function more efficiently. CST is safe, non-invasive, and deeply relaxing.

It is practiced in pairs or groups, creating not only physical healing but also connection, care, and emotional well-being.

My Journey with Cranio-Sacral Therapy

In 2023, I encountered Craniosacral Therapy (CST) for the first time, and it left a profound impact on me. What began as a chance experience turned into a deep exploration of a gentle yet powerful healing science. CST opened doors to a new approach to wellness and inspired me to expand my understanding of healing beyond traditional techniques as a Yoga Teacher.

Through CST, I have grown not only as a practitioner but also as a person. This therapy has allowed me to help individuals release pain, stress, and discomfort, while also guiding them toward a renewed perspective on their bodies and their lives. The work we do together often goes beyond physical improvement—it touches emotional and energetic well-being, encouraging balance and harmony from within.

Today, CST has become an integral part of my practice. It brings a holistic, compassionate approach to healing that resonates deeply with the people I support. Over time, the trust and connection formed through this work have grown so meaningful that many of my clients have become much more than clients

History of Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Origins of CST

CST has its roots back in the 19th century originating in Andrew Taylor Still’s (1828–1917) System of Osteopathic Medicine.

Sutherland’s Cranial Expansion

Subsequent pioneer of technique was William G. Sutherland (1873–1954) who extended Still’s System into Cranial Osteopathy.

Magoun’s Refinement

This was refined and codified by Harold Magoun (1898–1981) in the 1950’s and taught by him to Dr. John Upledger (1932–2012) in the late 60’s.

Upledger’s Development

Dr. Upledger took on and developed these techniques into Cranio-Sacral Therapy. He propounded CST as a holistic therapy aimed at assisting the client to employ their own body’s healing capacities and to trust that all bodies have an inherent intelligence keeping the body in equilibrium.

Gratitude From My Heart

My journey into Craniosacral Therapy would not have been possible without the guidance and blessings of some very special people.

I am deeply grateful to my teacher, Dr. Ankita Malik — Physiotherapist and Craniosacral Therapist. She is more than just a teacher to me; she is a source of inspiration. She teaches from experience, not just knowledge. Her sharp understanding, calm presence, and ability to explain with patience made every moment of learning meaningful. She always ensured that I didn’t just learn the therapy—I felt it. I will always carry her teachings in my hands and in my heart.

During the course, I was blessed with the rare opportunity to connect twice with her teacher, Bente Linnea Skovborg – MAREECHI KILNNIKEN (Denmark). Speaking with her was like meeting the foundation of this knowledge. Her depth of wisdom and dedication to sharing Craniosacral Therapy touched me on a very personal level. It felt as if a doorway opened beyond just learning techniques—I felt connected to a lineage of healing.

I am also humbly grateful to my Master, H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji. His blessings have been the light guiding me into this beautiful practice. Through his teachings, I found the courage, purity, and intention with which I now approach healing.

And lastly—but most importantly—I thank God every day for my wife Seema Kokane. Her love, faith, and support give me the strength to walk this path. Without her presence, encouragement, and understanding, this journey would not have been possible. She is the anchor of my life.

CST is not just a therapy to me—it is a calling. It is a way to touch lives gently, listen deeply, and help people reconnect with themselves. Every client I work with carries a part of my heart, just as I carry a part of theirs.
